Copepods represent a very important part of the aquatic food chain. Marine fish larvae in particular are naturally adapted to this live food as the first food source. Copepods have a high content of polar omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and important carotenoids such as astaxanthin. In addition, copepod biomass has an optimal ratio between the unsaturated fatty acids DHA, EPA and ARA. Copepods are therefore premium live food for all fish larvae and shrimp larvae. Due to the optimal nutrient composition copepods are clearly superior to classic live food such as Brachionus (rotifers), Artemia nauplii and Daphnia. In comparison, the breeding of fish larvae achieves significantly higher survival rates and no growth deformations. Until today the breeding of copepods and copepods nauplii has been very difficult. This is one of the reasons why rotifers and Artemia are often still preferred. We are proud to finally offer you a simple product called Copepod Eggs. The eggs are of the species Acartia tonsa and produce nauplii with a size of 70-110 µm. These can be fed as a replacement or as a supplement to rotifers. Alternatively the nauplii can be fed with the product Rotibomb or with algae like Isochrysis and can be grown to larger copepods. These are suitable as replacement and supplement to Artemia nauplii. In contrast to Brachionus and Artemia, copepods no longer need to be enriched. Copepods are also a high-quality coral food.

In my experiencie
"The availability of Acartía tonsa dormant eggs of good quality and significant hatching rates, has allowed me to include in the initial diet of larvae of species such as P. fridmani or G. loreto, a predictable amount of stage n1 nauplii each day, avoiding the availability failures that sometimes occur to me, harvesting from my own copepod cultures. All this results in improved survival rates of larvae of these species in their most critical weeks of development. JMªCid"
