Artemia eggs are used for hatching Artemia nauplii and breeding Brine Shrimp. Both forms are a high-quality live food for fish, shrimps, corals and anemones. Artemia nauplii are one of the most important starter feeds for breeding fish larvae and shrimp larvae (Mysis). Artemia nauplii are also fed to Amano shrimps, fish such as neon tetra, guppy and clownfish. Adult Artemia shrimps have a higher nutritional value than Artemia nauplii. Brine shrimps and nauplii are a good food for most aquarium fish and should be fed as a supplement to classic dry food. Due to their high vitamin content and easy digestibility, live food has a positive influence on fish health. Artemia cysts from algova in A+ quality are characterized by a very high hatching rate and small Artemia nauplii. They are therefore used as starter feed for most fish larvae in aquaristics and aquaculture.

Feeding Recommendation

The freshly hatched nauplii should be fed within 24 hours after hatching. Alternatively, the nauplii can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. When breeding demanding fish larvae, we recommend further enrichment of the nauplii with omega-3 algae to increase their nutritional value. For this we recommend our algae-based product RotiBomb. The Artemia nauplii can be raised with RotiBomb also to adult brine shrimps.

• Fish larvae: Artemia nauplii should be fed mainly or additionally during the first 20 days of life of most fish larvae.
• Freshwater aquarium: Artemia nauplii survive up to 24 hours in freshwater. As the nauplii are free in the water for a very long time, they promote the natural hunting behaviour of the fish. The fish spend the whole day hunting nauplii. Especially cichlids can be lured from their hiding place.
• Seawater aquarium: The natural hunting behaviour of the fish is also promoted. In addition, many reef fish are food specialists who are dependent on feeding them live food such as Artemia.
