Breeding Artemia – Even Smarter with ArtemiaVita SmartMix
With ArtemiaVita SmartMix, breeding Artemia becomes particularly easy: The bottle already contains decapsulated, hatchable Artemia eggs in a balanced saline solution. Additionally, SmartMix includes selected probiotic bacteria that support a stable microbial environment in the breeding setup.
You don't need to weigh additional Artemia salt or prepare a separate saline solution.
Simply fill 50 ml of ArtemiaVita SmartMix with 450 ml of water to make a total of 500 ml of breeding setup, aerate, and harvest freshly hatched Artemia nauplii after 24–36 hours.
The setup is highly concentrated: 1 liter of ArtemiaVita SmartMix contains approximately 6 million Artemia eggs. A dosage of 50 ml thus provides about 300,000 Artemia eggs per 500 ml breeding setup.
Artemia Nauplii Without Egg Shells. Now Even Easier.
Freshly hatched Artemia nauplii are among the best live foods for fish larvae, shrimp larvae, small aquarium fish, and many marine animals.
However, with traditional Artemia eggs, egg shells remain after hatching. These often need to be laboriously separated from the nauplii and can be problematic, especially for sensitive young animals.
ArtemiaVita SmartMix solves several typical problems of Artemia breeding: The eggs are already decapsulated and thus shell-free. Additionally, the appropriate saline solution is already included. This means you don't have to separate egg shells or weigh salt.
The salt content is adjusted to support the most stable incubation and cultivation possible. This not only ensures easy application but also a more stable breeding setup after hatching.
The freshly hatched nauplii remain vital longer under suitable conditions and can therefore be harvested and fed more flexibly.
At the same time, the setup is very concentrated: With approximately 6 million Artemia eggs per liter, you get a productive all-in-one solution for up to 20 breeding setups.
With Probiotic Bacteria for a More Stable Breeding Setup
ArtemiaVita SmartMix contains selected probiotic bacteria that support a stable microbial environment in the breeding water after setup.
The probiotic cultures compete with undesirable microorganisms for nutrients and habitat. This can help limit the proliferation of potentially harmful bacteria in the breeding setup.
This is particularly advantageous in warm and heavily aerated Artemia setups, as undesirable microorganisms can also multiply quickly under these conditions alongside the nauplii.
The combination of balanced saline solution, decapsulated Artemia eggs, and probiotic bacteria thus supports not only easy application but also the microbiological stability of the breeding setup.
Application
1. Take ArtemiaVita SmartMix out of the freezer.
2. Shake the bottle vigorously to evenly distribute the Artemia eggs and included components.
3. Pour 50 ml of ArtemiaVita SmartMix into a suitable hatching container.
4. Fill with 450 ml of water to make a total of 500 ml breeding setup.
5. Aerate coarsely and keep the hatching parameters as constant as possible. Set the airflow moderately to avoid foaming.
6. After about 24–36 hours, harvest, rinse, and feed the nauplii.
A dosage of 50 ml contains approximately 300,000 Artemia eggs. For even dosing, the bottle should be shaken vigorously before each use.
Recommended Hatching Parameters: 25–28 °C, strong aeration, sufficient light, and a suitable conical hatching container.
Breeding Artemia with Instructions – Step by Step
At algova, we offer you only high-quality Artemia eggs with hatching rates of over 90%. ArtemiaVita even achieves a hatching yield of 95–99%.*
To ensure you can actually achieve these hatching rates and avoid typical user errors, you will receive a comprehensive step-by-step hatching guide with every ArtemiaVita delivery.
The guide also includes a self-diagnosis questionnaire in case it doesn't work right away. Below you will also find a brief overview of the hatching process and a video that guides you step by step through Artemia breeding.
Important: ArtemiaVita SmartMix cannot be hatched in a hobby Artemia dish. Consistent aeration is required for reliable hatching.
