Artemia as food for breeding

Artemia, also known as brine shrimp or Artemia Brine Shrimp are small crustaceans found in salt lakes and salty waters all over the world. Due to their high nutrient content and their versatility Artemia as food is indispensable in aquaristics and aquaculture.
For decades, crayfish have been successfully used to breed fish and other aquatic organisms. Their eggs, known as cysts, are particularly fascinating: they can survive for years in a dormant state and only hatch when they come into contact with salt water. They are rich in proteins and essential fatty acids that promote the growth and health of fish. Artemia are used as food easy to cultivate and feed.
Hatching Artemia as food yourself - here's how
If you use the right products and follow the instructions, it's relatively easy, Breeding Artemia as food yourself. Here is a guide on how to hatch them and feed the nauplii within 24 hours of hatching:
Step 1 - Prepare the salt water: Prepare a saltwater solution with a concentration of 15 to 30 g/litre. Do not use inferior salt for this, but our special Artemia salt for optimum hatching conditions.
Step 2 - Add the eggs: Pour the Artemia eggs into the prepared salt water. A quantity of about 1 gram of eggs per litre of water is ideal.
Step 3 - Ventilation: Provide intensive ventilation to ensure that the eggs remain in constant motion and do not sediment.
Step 4 - Temperature and light: Keep the temperature between 25 °C and 28 °C and ensure good lighting, as light supports the hatching process. We recommend an illuminance of around 2000 lux.
Step 5 - Hatching: The nauplii usually develop within 24 to 48 hours.
Step 6 - Feeding the nauplii: Artemia food should be fed in the form of freshly hatched nauplii within 24 hours to ensure the highest nutritional value. Or enrich them with RotiBomb from algova (Artemia nauplii food). It contains a mixture of microalgae and probiotic microorganisms that increase the nutritional value of the nauplii and promote their health.

The Artemia food hatching guarantee from algova
algova offers a hatching guarantee for all Artemia eggs (in combination with our salt). It is based on our thorough production process and advanced quality management. They are processed under strictly controlled conditions in Germany and are free from contaminants. This, together with the right base, results in an exceptionally high Slip rate of 95 to 99 %.
The use of the right salt is crucial for the success of the Home breeding of Artemia as food. This is adapted to the natural conditions of their habitats and is free from undesirable metal ions, technical additives and anti-caking agents. The composition ensures an optimum pH value of 8.2 to 8.4 and improves the hatching rate. If you are looking for high quality Artemia eggs that are of convincing quality and guarantee a high yield, algova is the right place for you.
Why the right salt is so important:
  1. Creating optimal conditions The Artemia salt from algova provides an ideal environment that corresponds to the natural habitats of brine shrimp. This is important to support the sensitive hatching process.

  2. High pH value A stable pH value between 8.2 and 8.4 ensures that the Artemia eggs hatch under the best conditions. An incorrect pH value can have a negative effect on the hatching process.

  3. Free from impurities Artemia granules are free from harmful metal ions and additives.

Using the special salt makes your own breeding efficient and successful. No matter whether you Artemia-Futter for your hobby aquarium or for professional aquaculture: algova products provide you with the best conditions for healthy nauplii.
Artemia eggs without capsule: Meaning and use
Decapsulated Artemia eggs are cysts in which the hard outer shell (chorion) has been removed. This process is known as Decapsulation labelled. If the shell is missing, the eggs are directly digestible for immediate feeding.
How are Artemia eggs decapsulated?
Decapsulation is a process in which the outer shell of the eggs is removed chemically or mechanically. This is often done by treatment with a hypochlorite solution, which dissolves the chorion and leaves only the naked embryo with a thin membrane. This can either be fed immediately or allowed to hatch like normal Artemia eggs.
Can decapsulated Artemia eggs be used as food?
  1. Immediate feeding Yes, you can feed them directly. As there is no hard shell, they do not contain any indigestible residues that could cause digestive problems.

  2. Hatching of the nauplii They can also be placed in salt water like normal Artemia eggs to hatch them into nauplii. The advantage of this is an increased hatching rate and a faster hatching process, as the protective shell has already been removed.

Why Artemia should be fed as food in nauplii form
As nauplii have a very high nutrient density, they are particularly beneficial as food. The freshly hatched Artemia larvae are rich in proteins, essential fatty acids and vitamins, which are essential for the growth and health of fish larvae and other aquatic organisms.
  1. High nutritional value They contain all the necessary nutrients in an optimal composition and are therefore the ideal first food for young fish.

  2. Easy digestibility Freshly hatched nauplii are soft and therefore easy to digest.

  3. Active feeding By moving, they stimulate the natural hunting instinct of the fish larvae, which promotes feeding behaviour and improves food intake.
